The vineyards

The Fechner family vineyards are located in the north of the Eden Valley wine region, the lesser known neighbouring valley to the Barossa. Sixth-generation custodians of the land, Michael and Graeme, have poured over 45 years of dedication into this property that was founded by their forefathers who came out from Germany in 1844, with first vineyards planted in the 1850's.

The earliest current vines on the estate are Shiraz that date back to 1910. This is accompanied by plantings of Reisling, Kerner, Semillon, Traminer, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot over their 40 hectares of vineyards. These diverse varieties are able to thrive through the unique soil profiles and east facing aspect. Across the estate the soil varies between clay and limestone with rare marble and quartz scatterings, resulting in grapes with unique pallets, aromatics and texture.
