Kerner (also known Weißer Herold) is an aromatic white grape variety developed in Germany in 1929 from a cross between Riesling and Trollinger (Vernatsch). Since 2005, Fechner vineyards hold the only known planting in Australia of this popular European variety.
It's an aromatic white wine with green apple aromatics that brings texture of tropical fruits and lemon citrus on the palate.
We have paired this with award winning Riesling fruit that provides a level of familiarity. Together, this has created a perfect oyster wine that complements salinity, freshness, and delicate texture.
Shiraz
Far from the bold, punch-worthy Shiraz the Barossa Valley is often known for, the Eden Valley sub-region produces a more delicate Shiraz thanks to its cooler climate and higher altitude.
The Shiraz selected for the Nor Eden range is from the Fechner vineyards and produces a floral aroma and blue fruit flavours, which is synonymous with this vineyard, and a fine tannin that delivers a delicate finish.
This Shiraz captures the region's hallmark balance of power with restraint and elegance.
Cabernet Franc
Cabernet France is in our opinion, a highly underrated red variety. It is commonly grown and added to many red wines as part of a blend to provide an uplift of red cherry flavours and perfumed aroma.
However, with the perfect balance of growing environment and picking the fruit at the right time, this variety has the ability to produce a standout wine that has been known to pleasantly surprise new drinkers to this variety.
Our Cabernet Franc from the Fechner vineyards produces exactly that - grown on West facing slopes and picked later in the season enables the beautiful blueberry and raspberry flavours with subtle spice to come through in the hands of our expert winemaker.
